f: measurement of all breaths (spontaneous and delivered).

Sp f: measurement of spontaneous breaths.

MAP: mean airway pressure. Continuous average of the last 60 seconds of airway pressure. Should usually be less than 12 cmH2O.

Minute volume: Volume the vent delivers in one minute. MV = rate x VT

Vte: Exhaled tidal volume. Fluctuations in this may indicate issues exhaling completely. Check for auto PEEP and cuff leak. May need bronchodilator or suctioning.

SpVte: exhaled tidal volume of spontaneous breaths.

Vti: inspiratory tidal volume.

Delta pressure: PIP-PEEP

C static: Static lung compliance, including the vent circuit.

P exp: Expiratory pressure.

Auto PEEP: (AKA intrinsic PEEP, air trapping). Result of incomplete exhalation. Measured with an E-hold maneuver. Consider decreasing VT, I:time, rate, or PEEP. Consider disconnecting the vent circuit to allow patient to fully exhale.

Airway pressure: The airway pressure measured at the patient circuit connection port (circuit wye). Shown in real time by the moving bar at the top of the vent. The highest value is the PIP. The lowest value when the indicator stops moving indicates the PEEP.
